Race Officials Exchange Programme Meeting – Part 1

EUROSAF successfully managed Race Officials Exchange for first half of 2021.  

On Saturday the annual EUROSAF Race Officials Exchange Meeting took place, where the delegates of the EUROSAF Members allocate places for Race Officials to different events hosted in Europe. Despite the difficult situation for Members and event organizers, 29 delegates from 24 nations attended the meeting, which was held online for the first time.

The responsible officials of the programme had decided to allocate places only until the end of May, as changes and postponements are expected in the coming months. 28 events with a total of 52 open spots for Race Officials of different disciplines and levels related to this period. Almost all of the places offered were allocated. 

Following the allocation procedure, the delegates used a „Virtual RO Come Together” to discuss their experiences, expectations, wishes and ideas with hosting events during the pandemic and to further develop the programme. For further implementation, two working groups will be set up to look at individual areas in more detail.

Second meeting in April

The allocation of places for events from June until the end of 2021 will take place in a separate online meeting at the end of April.

The main objective of the EUROSAF Race Officials Exchange Programme is to provide experience especially for National Race Officials and help them to become International Race Officials as well as to help International Race Officials to broaden their knowledge and enhance their skills. For the organizers, this creates the opportunity to appoint competent and skilled Race Officials from outside their country, which results in improved standards and a higher consistency, thus benefiting the sailors.
