The EUROSAF family is overwhelmed to receive the news of the recent death of Jack Roy, former Irish Sailing president.
To say that Jack was committed to EUROSAF is an understatement. When he took over the presidency of Irish Sailing he insisted on having a strong collaboration with EUROSAF. He invited the EUROSAF Race Officials Exchange Programme (ROEP) meeting to Dun Laoghaire in 2020 and bestowed on all attendees a fantastic organization with a distinctive Irish kindness. His warm personal support brought a wonderful atmosphere, a joyful experience, and a fruitful meeting.
When he stepped down from the presidency he took over the role of EUROSAF delegate and in 2021 he was candidate to EUROSAF vice-president. After the election he took over the chair of the ROEP Guidelines Working Party and produced, together with his colleagues, a detailed, extended, and thoughtful document drawing the way forward that will be discussed at the next ROEP meeting in January.
Jack, thank you for all that you gave to our beloved sport. We all surely will miss you!
The EUROSAF family grieves with his family and all his friends in sailing.
