SNO Nantes is hosting this year’s EUROSAF Match Racing, Youth Open European Championship. The best European match race sailors under the age of 23 are meeting in the Northwest of France. The championship starts today and will finish on 1 May with finals and the prize giving ceremony.
The club is located in the north of Nantes, the regatta takes place on the Erdre river, directly in front of the SNO. The event will bring together 10 crews competing on J/22 during 4 days of racing. The entry list shows a lot of new and talented young match race sailors, and three teams already ranked Top 50 in the open Match Race World Ranking.
Two of the qualified teams already competed in previous years in the junior continental championship. While the team around skipper Marius Westerlind finished fifth two years ago in Italy, Tom Foucher already has a bronze medal in his hand. His team is one of the favorites for the European title.
