Day 3 of Match Racing, Open European Championship

Ekaterinburg has broken the temperature record – another day without wind is over at the European Championship. And if yesterday, the participants were lucky to have three flights (9 races) and one resail, then today was a day of waiting for the wind.  

“It’s certainly very hard to stay focused, – said Eugeny Neugodnikov, member of the Russian team of Pavel Kuznetsov, – it’s much better to sail in the morning up to 5 or 6 p.m. and then have some rest with family and friends. And now we’re sitting and waiting for a call on water, which may come at any moment.”

By the way, there was such call today and even not one, but as soon as the sailors started to dock out, the wind died down again. 

According to the Racing Rules of Sailing, the number of completed matches allows us to consider the competitions constituted and draw some preliminary results. However, everything may still change: the participants yet have Saturday at their disposal and the racing may continue till 4 p.m.
