June 27, 2022Start of the EUROSAF MATCH RACING OPEN EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP 2022

Eleven of the best European match racing specialists will spend the next days at the Circolo Velico Ravennate to compete in the EUROSAF Match Racing Open European Championship 2022 Emilia-Romagna.
The continental championship event is organized by the association in Via Molo Dalmazia in collaboration with EUROSAF, the European Sailing Federation, and supported by the Emilia-Romagna Region. Scheduled between Thursday and Sunday, the event will be sailed with TOM28 boats. The regatta course will be positioned in the inner marina, perfect for spectators to follow the races. The event will be managed by Chief Umpire Heiko Falch and Race Officer Massimo Scarpa and will consist of a Round Robin, followed by semi-finals and finals.
The entry list is a who-is-who of Match Racing, including world number one Eric Monnin (SUI), the French team around Maxime Mesnil, Poland’s Patrick Zbroja and Denmark’s Jeppe Borch. Rocca Attili and Riccardo Sepe will be representing Italy. Circolo Velico Ravennate is ready to give the warmest of welcomes to the athletes, for whom a dedicated Regatta Village has been set up and who have already had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the boats and race course. “At the club we can breathe the competitive tension that precedes every great sporting event: while waiting for the start of the regattas, we are enjoying the return of this atmosphere typical of major international events and we are proud that our club has been entrusted with the organization of this European Championship, which, we can bet, will not make us regret the best editions of the Trombini Trophy,” said Matteo Plazzi, vice president of the Circolo Velico Ravennate.
