One woman, one man, and a few nights on sea. From La Maddalena to Genoa in race mode. That’s what the EUROSAF Mixed Offshore European Championship is about.
The fourth edition of the EUROSAF Mixed Offshore European Championship will be sailed on the class Bénéteau Figaro3, a foiling boat optimized for double handed sailing. The participating teams have taken over the boats yesterday for free training sessions. The Opening Ceremony is scheduled for tonight; Tomorrow Wednesday, the starting signal will be given at 11.30h in front of the Marina of La Maddalena. There are three course options from 300 to 370Nm defined in the Notice of Race. The Race Management will announce the choice of the course shortly before the start, depending on the weather and wind forecast for the next days.
After the surprise success of Team Austria at the premiere in 2019, the teams from France and Italy won the titles 2020 and 2021 in this still young sailing discipline. Also, this year the Italian teams are among the favorites, together with the Belgian and the Spanish representatives. Looking at this year’s entry list we see a full fleet of ten entries from seven nations. The first teams are expected to reach Genoa around Sunday afternoon, the prize giving will take place when all teams finished, or on Monday 16 May latest.
